To design easy to use and nice looking device to disinfect shopping carts and baskets in supermarkets and middle-sized shops using liquid disinfectant and UV-C light.

To design easy to use and nice looking device to disinfect shopping carts and baskets in supermarkets and middle-sized shops using liquid disinfectant and UV-C light.

I designed multiple options from which we prototyped and implemented two models - Pro Plus (2-step disinfection) and Eco. Through few iterations we managed to build good looking, simple to use and effective device.

Grupa Terytorium company came from industry heavy afflicted by pandemics, now have perfect product for current crisis. Multi-national corporation Henry Kruse and Inpacs are distributing Stream Pro machines in almost whole world. Machine was very well recepted on fair trades in Germany and later in online trade fairs. Now you can find and use them in many shops across Europe.

Some challenges in the process of designing Stream Pro

When designing disinfectant device I ran into couple of problems. First, how to do it effectivly and second how to do it efficently. In first, bigger device I designed two-step disinfection - dry with UV-C light and wet with liquid alcohol-based disinfectant. As an result we created machine Pro+ which is quite big to ensure safety of UV-C light inside. In the first half of the device there is wet disinfection and in the second dry with UV-C. Two steps are much more effective becaouse liquid disinfectant damages biofilm on cart handles which is safe space for viruses and bacteries. Then in second step UV--C light can better penetrate and also its giving time to evaporate of the liquid disinfectant.

Its using one-step liquid disinfection sprinkle system and is one euro-pallet size with not even half of the weight of bigger device. In this model we implemented also secondary nozzles for shopping baskets. As a result we had sleek looking device which is operated by customer with easy logistic thanks to weight and dimensions.
